Application
Application Description
Surface Preparation
- Cleaning and Opening Cracks Open and widen the cracks in a 'V' shaped groove. This will provide a strong base for adhesion of Crack Seal to the surface. Wire brush and clean the area throughly with water to free it from dust and loose particles. Any algal/fungal growth must be cleaned using a bio-wash such as bleaching powder.
- Priming Dilute Crack Seal with water to get a paint consistency. Apply using a flat brush into the crack. Any water based primers can also be used for the purpose of priming. Allow to dry.
Application Procedure
- First Coat Using a putty knife, press Crack Seal into the crack in a direction perpendicular to the crack. Remove excess material by moving the putty knife along the crack. Allow to dry for 4-6 hours.
- Second Coat Apply a second coat using the same procedure as above. Allow to dry for 4-6 hours.
- Level the surface using the recommended putty.
- Continue priming and painting as normal.
Quick Tips
- Use Crack Seal only for plaster cracks and not to fill construction joints.
